The high elevation ensures there isskiing and boarding at A-Basin long after Keystone has closed. Linked by shuttlebus to Keystone, Arapahoe Basin boasts the highest liftserved skiing and riding in North America, and most of it is well above thetree-line. It is described as the nearest thing to European Alps styleskiing in the USA, but it has some excellent snowsure beginners terrain,and there are easy steps up the ability scale off lifts nearby.
Off the Norway and Lenawee lifts most of the runs are for beginners orintermediates, and there are longer runs for advancing beginners andintermediates off Wrangler, Chisholm and Sundance. At the Pali (Palivacinni) side of A-Basin is the highly challenging terrainwhich A-Basin is well known for. The whole of the East wall here has dozensof chutes, steeps and gullies and the Palivacinni itself is a steep chutewhich is one of the longest and steepest bump runs in North America. A-Basin is at its best from February onwards and often has skiing andboarding into June and sometimes July.
