Low cost ski insurance cover for skiers and snowboarders in Italy

Overview

Similarly to Val Gardena, Alta Badia is one of the world’s top regions for travelling between villages on your skis/board. Alta Badia has become increasingly lively and cosmopolitan over the past few years as many visitors immediately feel at ease on the beginner and intermediate level slopes, while tougher challenges lie only a short lift ride away.

Profile

Alta Badia has a large ski area of its own and is lift linked to the Sella Ronda which runs around the Sella Massif. This is a large vaguely square shaped mountain of rock which has very jagged sides rendering it virtually impossible to cut a piste. Luckily there are trails leading round the gently sloping base of the mountain including the Corvara which is an intermediate’s paradise with the added bonus of some challenging black runs. For experts, the neighbouring areas such as Arabba are easily reached by piste or lift. The World Cup run down to La Villa is a must for any budding downhill racers.

Mountain Information

This area offers some particularly good off piste and heli skiing with the most famous route being the long Hidden Valley run from the top of Sella down through Valmesdi to Colfosco. The Marmola glacier also offers some fun and challenging off piste runs.

Apres Ski

There are plenty choices for dining when you come off the slopes with more than thirty restaurants offering German, Italian and Ladin food (the traditional cuisine of the region). In Corvara try the Perla hotel and the Alisander for local specialities or Caterina’s for good old pizzas and pastas. Corvara also has the best nightlife of the area with several bars and clubs which offer a range of different nights out to suit all tastes. In Corvara try the Taverna Posta and El Muluin, or if neither of these suit you then the bars in neighbouring towns and villages are endless.
